You
better watch out! Jolly ol' St. Nick comes to town each November with
the Rainbow Value Centre Santa Claus Parade! The Parade is a favorite
annual event to ring in the Christmas season in Greater Sudbury. The festivities
kick off with a "Santa Watch Party" held in the Commerce Centre
Parking Lot on Durham street with a variety of children's activities,
music and live entertainment. The evening Parade rolls in through the downtown area with dozens of colorful floats, marching bands, festive music and more. The big-red-man-with-the-long-white-beard winds his way down to Science North for the "Post-Parade Party" where Parade goers enjoy plenty of family fun including the Lighting Up Ceremony for the annual Festival of Lights as well as the kick off for the annual Lung Association Festival of Trees. From start to finish the Parade begins at Notre Dame Avenue and follows to Elm Street, Durham Street, Elgin Street and Paris Street to Science North. The 2003 Rainbow Value Centre Santa Claus Parade is proudly supported by the City of Greater Sudbury, ‘Downtown Sudbury’, Scotiabank, Science North, Retail Wholesale & Dept. Store Union and the City of Greater Sudbury Police Service. |
