Canadian Garlic Festival

The humble but treasured garlic bulb is celebrated with savoury foods, lively music, dance performances, children's activities, a recipe cook-off and Saturday evening cabaret. During this festival crowds of 5000 people enjoy a variety of garlic nibblers and partake in a day of entertainment, workshops, competition and family fun.

Cavalcade of Colours

Celebrate the brilliant and changing colours of fall leavesand visit the falls that once inspired A.Y. Jackson, one of Canada's renowned Group of Seven artists. The Site overlooks High Falls, a waterfall formed by the Onaping River that cascades 150 feet into the Sudbury basin. On site are a travel information centre, washroom facilities and a picnic area.

Cortina Boat Cruise

Dynamic Earth

Dedicated to earth sciences, this centre is located on the former Big Nickel Mine site. This $15.3 million attraction offers visitors an opportunity to discover the geological process that shape the Earth, including the extraordinary geology of the Sudbury Basin. Featuring interactive exhibits, the centre introduces visitors to this ever changing planet. Two galleries, a heritage theatre, the Inco Chasm and tours of the underground mining drifts, provide an experience of wonder and enlightenment.

Festival of Trees

Market Square is transformed into a magical Christmas Village from November 15 - 27 each year during the Annual Lung Association Festival of Trees presented by Falconbridge Limited. All Sudburians and their families can "catch the spirit" over the Holidays by viewing and bidding on over 60 beautifully decorated wreaths and Christmas Trees while enjoying musical performances by local musicians as well as activities for the children. Admission to the festival is by voluntary donation. All funds raised in Sudbury will stay in the community to support local lung health programs and services.

Italian Festival

The Caruso Club Italian Festival is an example of the vibrancy of the Italian community in Sudbury. Its activities reflect and highlight Italian culture and traditions. The weekend includes a food fair and a cultural night featuring young Italian talent. There are hosts of activities for people to become involved in. Brunches, a mini-carnival, barbecues and a traditional pasta dinner round out the weekend, including dancing into the wee hours of the morning.

Santa Claus Parade

Ho-ho-ho! Come start the holidays at the Santa Watch Party; dance to the live music and enjoy inflatable games, cotton candy, hot dogs, hot chocolate, and much more. The parade route winds from NotreDame Ave., through the city to Paris St. and ends up at Science North. Santa and his Parade is an annual holiday spectacle that is enjoyed by thousands in the Sudbury community.

They're off! Sudbury Downs Racetrack is located about 25 minutes from Sudbury. It offers live harness racing two nights a week and simulcasting daily. Sudbury Racetrack Slots hours of operation are from 11:00a.m. to 3:00 a.m. daily. The Casino has 325 machines, ranging from quarter to five dollars machines open 7 days a week 365 days a year. The Track's 'Mardi Gras Dining Lounge' offers buffets and sit down meals, while a small cafeteria style restaurant near the Slot Casino provides simpler fare.
 
Sudbury Dragon Boat Festival

The objective of this event is to share the tradition of Dragon Boat Racing with other Ontario
communities. Aside from a full day of colorful boat races, this fun-filled weekend is enriched by a series of performances, featuring traditional cultural dances and songs from a number of ethnic communities. These performances reflect Sudbury's ethnic diversity and complement the city's cultural mosaic. Fun activities for children are also included.
